Descripción del proyecto
IN THE LAST YEARS THE STUDY OF THE GENETIC BASIS OF CANCER HAS UNDERGONE A PROFOUND TRANSFORMATION, HIGH-THROUGHPUT TECHNIQUES, SUCH AS MICROARRAYS OR NEW GENERATION SEQUENCING TECHNOLOGIES, ALLOW SCIENTISTS TO IDENTIFY GENETIC ALTERATIONS AT GENOME-WIDE LEVEL IN MANY TUMOUR TYPES, THE AVAILABILITY OF GROWING NUMBER OF ONCOGENOMIC STUDIES RESULTS PROVIDES AN UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERSTAND TUMOUR DEVELOPMENT FROM A GENOMIC PERSPECTIVE, HOWEVER, IT IS REQUIRED THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW STRATEGIES AND INTEGRATIVE METHODOLOGIES IN ORDER TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY, WE PROPOSE TO DEVELOP A NOVEL FRAMEWORK FOR ENABLING THE STUDY OF CANCER ALTERATIONS FROM A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE BY THE INTEGRATION AND ANALYSIS OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL ONCOGENOMIC DATA,THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT IS TO UNRAVEL MECHANISMS OF CANCER BY INTEGRATION AND DATA-MINING OF DIVERSE HIGH-THROUGHPUT DATA TYPES, WE WILL APPROACH THIS FROM TWO DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES: I) FROM A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE MORE IMPORTANT GENES, PATHWAYS, PROCESS AND REGULATORY PROGRAMS INVOLVED IN CANCER AND II) FROM A PATHWAY-SPECIFIC PERSPECTIVE IN THE ANALYSIS OF PRB/JARID1 PATHWAY AND ITS ROLE IN CELLULAR DIFFERENTIATION, TO ACHIEVE THESE MAIN OBJECTIVES FIRST WE NEED TO DEVELOP THE FRAMEWORK AND TOOLS NECESSARY TO ENABLE THE INTEGRATIVE ANALYSES PROPOSED, GENOMICA COMPUTACIONAL\CANCER\PATRONES DE EXPRESSION\ANALISIS INTEGRATIVOS
