Descripción del proyecto
A rapid emergence of resistant bacteria occurs worldwide, endangering the efficacy of antibiotics, which have transformed medicine and saved millions of lives. The antibiotic resistance crisis has been attributed to the overuse and misuse of these medications. 700 000 patients die annually as a result of infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria. Due to a growing demand to substitute medicine and hazardous chemical usage in agriculture, Bioapplications developed the BioBalanced Farm Probiotic – a unique probiotics blend, which is misted in the facility, naturally excludes pathogenic bacteria and prevent mutation and development of resistant bacteria. The Solution also strengthens immune system, improves the welfare and increases the mass of the livestock, reduces bad odours, and generally improves a quality of meat. Consequently, farmers are able to fight.
According to Eurostat, there were 331.16 million Livestock Units (LSUs) in 2017 – 44.47% were pigs, 26.9% were cows, 26.3% were sheep’s and 3.9% were goats. Since pigs are the most prevalent in Europe and antibiotics are heavily overused in pig farms, the commercialisation of the solution will be firstly focused on pig farms. With a total of 147.24 M pigs in EU-E8, the total available market size for BioBalanced Farm probiotic is 88.34 M square meters. Bioapplications will enter the market by targeting large pig farms in home market Denmark, followed by Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. After a successful commercialisation, Bioapplications plans to scale-up by expanding into other EU regions and providing the service to poultry and cows farms.
Commercialisation strategy includes three steps: preparation for market entry (home markets), market replication (large pig farms in target countries) and scaling-up (large pigs/poultry/cow farms in other EU countries). The Solution developed by Bioapplications is currently at TRL 6: prototype that is validated in industrially relevant environment stag
