Vicent Botti

Vicent J. Botti Navarro received his Ph. D. from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in 1990. He holds a position of Full Professor of Computer Sciences at the Universitat Politècnica de València where he has been teaching since 1984. Professor Botti is Head of Grupo de Tecnología Informática-Inteligencia Artificial (http://www.gti-ia.upv.es/), and was Vice-Rector for the Development of ITC Technologies at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, from July 2008 to May 2017. He teaches undergraduate and master courses in Artificial Intelligence at the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Informàtica at the UPV.Professor Botti was Head of the UPV[X] project, the MOOC platform of the Universitat Politècnica de València, from January 2013, and head of the UPValenciaX Project the MOOC UPV Project in edX.Professor Botti was member of the Board of the Spanish Association on Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA, 1991-2001) and he was awarded the 2005 Prize of Research of the Spanish Association on Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA). He is fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (2017). He is/was: Emeritus member of the board of the European Association for Multi-Agent Systems from 2012– present; member of the Steering Committee of the Conference on Agreement Technologies (2012 – present); Treasurer of the European Association for Multi-Agent Systems (EURAMAS) (2008 – 2012); Founding Partner of the European Association for Multi-Agent Systems (EURAMAS)( 2008)Professor Botti has been working in the area of artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems for 30 years. In 1990 I founded the GTI-IA. He lead the microcluster Social and Economic Computing which has around 80 full time researchers from artificial intelligence, neuroeconomic and neuroscience areas. Her main research lines has been: Knowledge Based Systems, Autonomous Agents, Multi-Agent Systems, Agreement Technologies, Agent-Based Social Simulation, Emotional Agents, Real-Time Artificial Intelligence, Real-time Systems and Softcomputing. He has over 350 international refereed publications. He has taken part in 54 research projects, including 6 EU projects, and over 30 by the National projects, having been the principal investigator (IP) in 26. The results of these projects he has been transferred to seven industrial companies and technology-based firms. For reference, He is in the top 5 and 30 of the field of Agent-Based Simulation and Multi-agent Systems respectively.Vicent Botti has served as chair of several international events: general chair of CCIA 2013, chair of the Scientific program committee of NTerTAin 2006/ECAI 2006; chair of IDEAL 2006; chair of INADIS 2006; chair of the Scientific program committee of the 3th International Workshop on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (IWPAAMS 2004); chair of the Scientific program committee of the ‘VII Conferencia de la Asociación Española para la Inteligencia Artificial (CAEPIA 1997)’; chair of the Organizing Committee of the 11th International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (AAMAS 2012); chair of the Organizing Committee of the 16th biennial European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI 2004); chair of the Organizing Committee of the 9th European Workshop on Modelling Autonomous Agents in a Multi-Agent World (MAAMAW 1999); and member of Scientific Program Committees of different editions of main conferences of interest research areas (SAC, HAIS, AAMAS, ECAI, MATES, EUMAS, HoloMAS, COIN, AOSE,…).Vicent Botti has given several invited talks in different international and national events, from which is worth mentioning the following: ICAART 2010; IDEAL 2006; CAEPIA 2005; and IWPAAMS 2004. He has also given several tutorials and courses on the area of Agents and Multi-agent Systems, and Agreement Technologies. He is a usual reviewer of several relevant journals on AI, among them: International Journal of Autonomous Agents and Multi-agent Systems; Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence; International Journal of Production Research; Integrated Computer-Aided Engineering; Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Part C; International Journal of Human-Computer Studies; and Pattern Recognition Letters. He has supervised 22 Ph.Ds. on different Artificial Intelligence topics.He held responsibilities in several boards, he was member of the management board of the Spanish Association on Artificial Intelligence, he has been director of the Departament de Sistemes Informàtics i Computació at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Deputy Director of the Facultat d’Informàtica at UPV, Deputy Director of the Escola Universitaria d’Enginyeria Informàtica at UPV, member of the Ph.D. Commission at UPV, and member of the Research Commission at UPV.
