LEARNING OCCURS IN A BACKGROUND OF CONTEXTUAL STIMULI THAT CAN DIRECTLY CONTROL THOUGHTS, EMOTIONS, AND BEHAVIOR THROUGH DIRECT ASSOCIATIONS WITH OTHER STIMULI, CONTEXTUAL STIMULI CAN ALSO MODULATE THE LEARNING ACQUIRED BY STIMULI EMBEDDED WITHIN THEM, FOR EXAMPLE, PEOPLE MAY TREAT A STIMULUS THAT OCCURS IN THE CONTEXT AS ONE THAT PREDICTS AN UNPLEASANT EVENT, BUT ONLY IN THE CONTEXT WHERE THE ASSOCIATION WAS FORMED, THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT IS TO UNDERSTAND WHEN AND HOW CONTEXTS SERVE EACH OF THESE FUNCTIONS (DIRECT ASSOCIATIONS OR MODULATION), THESE GOALS ARE IMPORTANT FOR UNDERSTANDING HUMAN LEARNING, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT THESE THE TYPES OF CONTEXTUAL CONTROL HAVE A ROLE IN CLINICAL RELAPSE, OFTEN, LEARNING THAT OCCURS IN THERAPY IS LARGELY SPECIFIC TO THAT CONTEXT, LEADING TO RELAPSE OUTSIDE OF THERAPY, THE PROJECT WILL USE INNOCUOUS SCIENCE-FICTION BASED VIDEO GAMES WHERE STIMULI (E,G,, FLASHING LIGHTS) WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH EVENTS (E,G,, APPEARANCE OF SPACESHIPS) TO WHICH PARTICIPANTS MUST RESPOND IN CONTEXTS PROVIDED BY DIFFERENT GALAXIES WHERE THE GAMEPLAY TAKES PLACE, THE PROJECT WILL ALSO USE PREDICTIVE-LEARNING TECHNIQUES WHERE PARTICIPANTS PLAY THE ROLE OF A DIAGNOSTICIAN, OBSERVING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN VARIOUS FOODS AND CONSEQUENCES (E,G,, ALLERGIC REACTION) IN THE CONTEXT OF FICTITIOUS RESTAURANTS, BY MANIPULATING VARIABLES SUCH AS WHEN LEARNING TAKES PLACE, ATTENTION TO CONTEXTUAL STIMULI, ATTENTION TO DISCRETE STIMULI, AND THE ORDER IN WHICH MULTIPLE THINGS ARE LEARNED, THE PROJECT WILL DETERMINE THE ANTECEDENT CONDITIONS FOR EACH OF THE CONTEXTUAL FUNCTIONS ABOVE, AND DESCRIBE THE UNDERLYING CONTENT AND MECHANISMS OF SUCH LEARNING ATENCIÓN\CONTEXTO\CONTROL CONTEXTUAL\ESTRUCTURAS ASOCIATIVAS\EXTINCIÓN\INTERFERENCIA\MECANISMOS DE APRENDIZAJE
