Descripción del proyecto
Over 70 million motorcycles and 100 million Small Off-Road engines (SORE) are produced annually worldwide, and market prospects for both markets are splendid: Global demand for motorcycles is projected to climb 3.8% per year through 2020 to 113 million units, valued at $120 billion and the SORE market has a value of $17.7 billion with constant growth. However, pollutant emissions from combustion engines in these devices significantly contribute to air pollution. Therefore, emissions regulations are being released (such as Euro 5 standards for motorcycles, and EU’s Stage V Regulation 2016/1628 for SORE) which can hinder the growth of these markets, as current carburettors (responsible for engines’ emissions) cannot comply with these increasingly stricter regulations. At Fjölblendir ehf we have developed a disruptive fuel injection system, TCT, which will not only allow small motorcycle or off-road engines (250cc) to abide to the stringent emissions regulations, but also perform extraordinarily, guaranteeing a complete combustion as well as increasing fuel efficiency (up to 25% of fuel reduction), torque (25% more) and power at a competitive price. We have already established an agreement with Tillotson (a carburettor manufacturer, OEM for small engines and expert in innovative fuel systems and high performance small engine operation with 73 dealers in 20 countries) to produce the mechanical versions of TCT, and at this point we are focused on developing the new electronic versions of TCT carburettors, which will enhance engines’ performance even more. The overall objective of this TCT project is to achieve the industrialisation of TCT electronic carburettors, and in this way contribute to reducing the environmental impact of both motorcycles and SORE.
