HORIZON-JU-Chips-2024-1-IA-T3: Topic 3 Focus topic on “Service Oriented Framework for the Software Defined Vehicle of the future”
The project aims to develop an open Software-Defined Vehicle middleware and API framework to enable standardized modular services, easy application development, improved access to vehicle data, and seamless upgrades. It emphasizes abstracting hardware through a Hardware Abstraction Layer Interface (HALI) for flexibility and integration with existing frameworks like ECPLISE SDV and AUTOSAR Adaptive. The initiative supports evolving E/E architectures, safety, security, and efficient engineering tools to enhance automotive engineering processes in compliance with future regulations. The focus is on modular platforms, domain-centralized architectures, safety, security, and developing reference implementations for evaluation in various scenarios to drive innovation in the automotive sector.

The projects and technologies funded include the development of modular platforms based on standardized building blocks, interoperable components, and open-source elements to enable in-vehicle and cloud-based applications. The goal is to evolve towards centralized E/E architectures, supporting functions at the domain level and enabling zone- and vehicle-centralization with dedicated controllers. Additionally, safety and security measures, secure access to resources, and data provision are emphasized, leveraging virtualization and defined interfaces.
Furthermore, the projects involve the development of reference implementations for the SDV Middleware and API framework, employing highly automated engineering methods and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of the engineering process. The consortium includes leading European industrial actors, OEMs, tier-1 suppliers, technology companies, SMEs, universities, and research organizations to drive innovation in the automotive software sector.
Collaboration with other projects under the same call and related initiatives is encouraged to promote cohesion and alignment within the automotive sector, ensuring the successful development and integration of the SDV Middleware and API framework for future vehicles.
