Descripción del proyecto
Yetitablets aim to become the world’s leading giant touchscreen tablets. They use a unique Android 7 operating system and function just like a smartphone, which is just what users demand and expect from a large interactive screen. Yetitablet is filling a lucrative market void. Several large interactive panels already exist, but they are clumsy, slow and have restrictive proprietary software. Many require training to use. They are repeating the same mistake of dead mobile phone manufacturers - locking the software.
Yetitablet is the first to offer a completely open OS with no required proprietary tools, and functionality that users already know and expect. Yetitablets come in five sizes from 27 to 98 inches, with a 4K LCD panel 50% brighter than any competitor. They come with a stand, can be hung on walls or laid horizontal, and used outdoors. They are ideal for use in the education, healthcare, transport, construction, corporate and construction sectors. Large screens are highly effective for the elderly and impaired. Europe will benefit from improved educational outcomes, better digital accessibility for all, and greater choice through reduced anti-competitive hardware-software bundling.
Founders Maria and Jarkko Jokelainen developed Yetitablet for their three children with Asperger's. Using their experience from IBM, Nokia and Microsoft, they launched Kuori Oy in 2015 and scaled up to 23 employees. Design, development, sales and marketing is carried out in Finland. Third-party suppliers provide components and assembly. It is sold via 24 distributors in 8 countries. 700 units of an early model have already been sold, with 60,000 unit sales forecast by 2023, resulting in €110M revenue. Two patents are pending related to the unique electro-mechanical design. The company will soon be the only large tablet producer with Google certification. Kuori Oy is now applying for a Phase 1 feasibility study to analyse the existing product and plan the next generation model.
