Descripción del proyecto
"This project is directed towards material research of acoustic poro-visco elastic materials with the aim to improve physical insight into the acoustic behavior of materials.
The project has the following objectives
1. Development of fast and robust methods for material characterization
2. Development of physical models for poro-visco elastic materials.
Material characterization of porous materials is a renowned field of expertise of the host, the Laboratory for Acoustics and Thermal Physics at K.U.Leuven, headed by Prof Glorieux.
For the characterization of acoustic materials new innovative measurement concepts will be explored. These new measurement concepts involve the Nearfield Acoustic Holography (NAH) and Acoustic Radiation Force (ARF) techniques.
The aim of using these new measurement concepts is to estimate poro-visco elastic material properties faster and in a robust manner. For the physical modeling collaboration will be set up with the group of Prof. Desmet at K.U.Leuven, to develop Wave Based numerical models and confront the numerical model results with experimental results.
Whilst the fellow up till now had combined jobs at both industry and university, it is the fellow’s ambition is to enter into fulltime employment as a full professor at a European university. The fellow’s training objectives are all centered around this ambition. The Marie Curie IEF-program offers the fellow the possibility to work for 2 years fulltime in an internationally oriented research group that has a world-class reputation in the field of acoustics of poro-visco elastic materials and vibro-acoustic modeling, allowing him to gain experience with all aspects of leadership of an internally working academic research group."
