Descripción del proyecto
RebYouth main objective is to explore an entirely new area of research by focusing on the largely overlooked histories of Women*, Queer, Black and People of Colour (W*-Q-BPoC) in rebellious, dissident youth movements and alternative music cultures from the late 1970s of late state socialism to the early 1990s in Poland. The focus is on cultural heritage, dissident/cultural practices, infrastructures of support and collisions with dominant social, cultural and political regimes.
Objectives are the: 1) Mapping of W*-Q-BPoC dissidence history and cultural heritage with focus on music in the broader context of independent culture. 2) Exploring public and private archives. 3) Capturing and analyzing life time biographies and oral history accounts of W*-Q-BPoC actors. 4) Empowering W*-Q-BPoC through inclusion into contemporary historical discourses and memory practices. 5) Analysing intersectional dissidence and collisions of sensible orders and developing a concept of intersectional critique. 6) investigating infrastructures of support. 7) Mapping and analyzing international connections, transfer and migration.
The main empirical research methods include research in private and public archives and qualitative interviews - with a series of life history interviews tracing selected biographies in changing socio-political contexts and during migration. The mapping of projects, people, crews, networks, events and artefacts will be an ongoing process resulting in visual maps. Based on a cross-cutting analysis of biographies, infrastructures of support, and social positioning situational maps will be created.
