Descripción del proyecto
The ACCEPTA Project Concept is the acceleration of the EGNOS adoption in the aviation sector, with a wide-scale real-life adoption of the EGNOS-enabled LPV approaches throughout European airports where the SBAS signal is available and certified, focusing on the Topic’s first objective of the Call.
The project will introduce operationally the EGNOS aviation applications in the most promising key niche markets interested in the EGNOS use, namely Regional Airlines and Corporate Aviation.
It takes into account the results of previous studies for the introduction of the EGNOS enabled operations to the End Users, but this is not a continuation of past projects, i.e. no more pre-operational flight demonstrations, no more single tests, single aircraft and single airport. It will closely collaborate with SESAR, other FP7 and Eurocontrol related projects in order to not duplicate activities and make better use of available public funds.
Special effort will be devoted to the topic’s objective to develop cost benefit analyses and business plans. For this reason, and specially the importance of this topic to the participating airlines and end users, a two-phase project has been defined. Within phase 1, Airlines Business Plans and Cost Benefit Analyses will be developed and customized for these pioneer airlines. In addition, the final selection of European airports/runways where EGNOS-based LPV approaches will be performed. Phase 2 will perform the deployment, aircraft conversions, modifications and certification of the pioneer airlines, as well as the design, development and publication of the selected approach procedures.
End users are the main community and decision makers in order to introduce and adopt the usage of the EGNOS system and service in all markets. In aviation, airlines and corporate users, including their associations, constitute the most promising EGNOS end users community, and they are key partners of the project.
