Descripcion
After my degree in Computer Engineering (University of Málaga, 1996), I did my doctoral thesis in the field of Computational Neuroscience (PhD from the University of Málaga, 2004), obtaining several publications of impact in this area and doing research stays abroad (Universities of Connecticut, USA, and Freiburg, Germany). Since 1998 I work as a professor in the Dept. of Languages and Computer Science, obtaining the current professional category of Tenured Professor in 2009, in the Area of Computer Languages and Systems at the University of Malaga, where I currently teach Introduction to Programming in the undergraduate degrees of the ETSI de Telecomunicación. From 1999 to the present, I have participated continuously, both as principal and associate researcher, in different competitive projects, as well as in contracts and agreements with public administrations and companies, with European, national and regional funding, in the interdisciplinary field of application of different techniques of Computational Intelligence to problems in the industrial, financial, health and biomedical fields. As a result of these projects have been obtained numerous publications of impact in international journals and conferences, as well as doctoral theses under my academic direction. I am currently developing my scientific work within the PAI group of Computational Intelligence in Biomedicine (TIC226), both as principal investigator and associate collaborator, in projects on the application of Artificial Intelligence algorithms and models to Personalized Medicine in cancer and Natural Language Processing of oncological clinical text. These projects have national and regional funding. My current lines of interest are Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Biomedicine, Bioinformatics, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning.
