Doctor specialized in Medical Oncology for adults. Since the successful completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003, genomics has increasingly come to play a central and catalytic role in basic and translational research. The main goal of oncology is to understand cancer. Thanks to new technologies we can now move from a cancer taxonomy based on morphology to one based on genomics. Decisions are increasingly tailored to the unique genomic and proteomic characteristics of a patient's tumor. However, the unprecedented amount of detail and information has revealed a level of complexity that far exceeds our expectations. We need to understand how each genomic change in a patient's tumor contributes to its biology or influences its behavior, which is why in these past years I have trained in genomic oncology to focus on areas related to precision medicine and genetic counseling. .
