Marcos Boullón

I received MSc (1998, 2000) and PhD (2016) degrees in Physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain, and a BSc (2007) in Computer Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), Spain.I have published on the topics of high performance computing, parallel programming and GRID as well as geographic information technologies, and actively participated in congresses, courses and projects within these areas. Some (software) patents were granted. My PhD was developed under the lead of the USC Computer Architecture research group (Dept. Electrónica e Computación) and oriented to modeling of irregular code performance in complex distributed architectures. But as an example of overlapping topics, the MSc thesis (in the same research group) had been on heuristic optimization applied to land redistribution. At first in the Computer Architecture research group (USC GI-1638), since 2005 I have been a member of the USC Land Laboratory research group (USC GI-1934-TB) (Dept. Ingeniería Agrícola e Forestal), where my research activity takes place in a multidisciplinary environment focused in the sustainable management of land and territory, complementing with technology the expertice and knowledge of the group and focusing on research-action activities. Currently, my main research interests are geographic information systems, photogrammetry and remote sensing, heuristic optimization technics and lidar data computation. In addition, in later 2014, I started teaching at the University of Santiago de Compostela in several grades.
