Descripción del proyecto
The aim of this proposal is the implementation of a fully automated robotic system for large-scale plant phenotyping, with continuous image analysis, and photosynthesis and biomass measurement, The system will (1) allow large-scale phenotyping of the aerial part of plants in Petri dishes, seedbeds, or individual pots, of small size (thousands, such as Arabidopsis seedlings) or medium size (hundreds, such as rapeseed or Micro-Tom tomato); (2) be equipped with three image-analysis cameras (for the capture of zenithal and lateral images in the visible and near infrared spectra, as well as fluorescence), and will be able to water and fertilize the plants and determine their weight; (3) initially be configured with a single robotic arm articulated from the ceiling of a walk-in chamber, which will water and fertilize pots and seedbeds, and will also move the plants in order to take the measurements and images required; (4) be scalable, allowing further upgrade in the future, by means of the incorporation of a conveyor belt that continuously moves larger plants and passes them through the place where the weight sensors, irrigation and fertilization units, cameras and lighting systems of specific wavelengths are located, and (5) will include all hardware and software resources required, All captured data will be stored in a relational database, This platform will mostlybut not exclusivelybe used for genetic screens, natural variation analyses and yield studies,
