Descripción del proyecto
Hiberband is a new IoT connectivity platform that combines the low-cost and low-power consumption of terrestrial networks with the ubiquity of satellite coverage. Hiberband provides ubiquitous and affordable IoT connectivity with ultra-low-power consumption, intuitive installation and simple service provisioning.
Hiberband is composed of a fleet of communication nodes deployed with the assets, a satellite constellation owned by us and a supporting data processing infrastructure. The end-user application gathers data on a given asset and hands over the data to the communication sensor. The data is transmitted directly to our satellite, which stores all collected data and sends the data back to Earth, once in contact with a ground station, where the messages are stored and forwarded for analysis and insights.
We have completed all key operational and regulatory preparation (e.g. ITU frequency application, satellite operator license) and have successfully launched our first 2 satellites in November and December 2018. With this initial deployment, we are able to cover 100% of the Earth’s surface reliably at least once per day while providing long battery life (>10 years) and low connectivity cost (<€0.50 per month) with a maximum latency of 100 min.
In this phase 2 project, we will launch our next 12 satellites (Hiber-3 until Hiber-14), implement 4 customer trials with AXA (transport & logistics), 52Impact (water management), Rabobank/mOOvement (cattle tracking) and Shell (energy).
Over the next 6 years, we plan to deploy 48 nanosatellites and 22 UHF/VHF and S-band ground stations, which will enable us to monitor up to 150M assets with an update rate of 15 min. We have already signed over 50 trial agreements representing potential annual recurring revenues of over €30M when successfully rolled-out. We forecast revenues of €80M by 2024, supporting 700+ new jobs in Europe (direct and indirect).
