Descripción del proyecto
It is the proposal to organise the 20th European Union Contest for Young Scientists in Copenhagen, Denmark from the 19th to the 26th of September 2008. This will be done in collaboration with the EU Commission, the Danish State, the EIROForum, the European Patent Office, Munich, Germany, different Danish sponsors (e.g. the Lundbeck Foundation, the Capital Region of Denmark, the Copenhagen Municipality, the Augustinus Foundation etc.) and Young Scientists – Denmark. It is the intention of the Danish organisers that this EUCYS simply MUST be used to focus on: Support for young European talents in science Stimulation of new innovative initiatives between young European Scientists Enhancing entrepreneurship and creativity between young European Scientists Creating a strong and powerful network between young European Scientists Many initiatives will be taken to obtain these goals; but one of the most important will be to imply a strong, focused and well-planned media strategy, so these young European scientists can serve as a role model in their respective home-countries. It is also a specific goal to obtain a stronger collaboration between EUCYS and the most highly recognised competitions for young scientists world-wide: The Intel ISEF competition in the US and CASTIC (China Adolescent Science & Technology Innovation Contest) where thousands of young scientists meet each other. It is our hope that we will: be able to create the first strong network between these young European scientists – a network that they will be able to use during the coming education; give the students an introduction to the many post-graduate education possibilities in Europe; stimulate a stronger interest for natural science in Europe – and in Denmark in particular.
