The lack of an efficient and affordable solution for assessing the health of a movement and related muscular structures motivated NCS to develop S-HOW MOTION, a very unique and innovative anatomic motion analysis platform, based on wearable sensors, surface electromyography, biomechanical analytics, and virtual model comparison parameters, representing the first objective non-invasive smart tool for musculoskeletal physiotherapy, orthopaedics, pre- or post-surgical rehabilitation, ergonomics and sport analysis applications.
S-How Motion's Competitive/Innovative advantages includes: a) Real-time analytics, allowing for a deep on-site understanding of the movement; b) Creation of a Virtual Body model, to be compared with other models, in order to mimic standardized movements (e.g.: healthy/pathological, precise sport movements); and c) Informs about the status and relation between muscular stress and motion, allowing diagnosis and follow up of motion conditions and treatments.
S-How Motion market potential is huge since the global Physiotherapy Equipment Market was valued at ~€14 B in 2016, growing at 7.1% CAGR by 2022 and the global 3D motion capture system market is projected to expand at a CAGR of 11.31% to reach ~€155 M by 2022, from €91 M in 2017. A significant share of these two markets combined constitute the target niche of the S-How Motion Platform: In-Depth movement understanding for diagnosis (Physiotherapy, rehabilitation, Orthopaedics), Movement comparison (Sport analysis) and Ergonomic studies (product design and risk prevention). Our business model primarily consists of a sale + maintenance fee for the sensors, and a monthly fee for the cloud servers. We have estimated that in 5 years after the end of Phase 2 project, we would have accumulated ~406 S-How Motion tools sales (revenue €39M) accounting for ~1% of the EU and USA market. We expect to hire ~40 new technical and sales employees and earn ~€16.5M profit, thus generating a ROI of 6.2%.
