THIS COORDINATED PROJECT PROPOSES A JOIN EFFORT OF FOUR COMPLEMENTARY RESEARCH GROUPS FROM THE UNIVERSITIES OF PAIS VASCO, CANTABRIA, OVIEDO AND THE INSTITUTO DE CIENCIA DE MATERIALES DE ARAGON, IN THIS WAY, WE PLAN TO OPTIMISE OUR RESOURCES AND INFRASTRUCTURES FOR BASIC RESEARCH, WITH THE COMMON GOAL OF EXPLORING THE CAPABILITIES OF NEW EXPERIMENTAL TOOLS TO GET A BETTER CHARACTERISATION AND IMPLANTATION OF NEW NANOSTRUCTURATED MAGNETIC MATERIALS, THE PROJECT IS AIMED TO THE STUDY OF FUNCTIONAL AND SIZE-CONTROLLED NANOSTRUCTURED MAGNETIC MATERIALS, BEING SPECIAL ATTENTION PAID ON THE RELATIONSHIP AMONG MACROSCOPIC PROPERTIES AND MICROSTRUCTURE, AS WELL AS ON THE POTENTIAL TECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS, TO THIS RESPECT, THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF ADVANCED CHARACTIZATION TECHNIQUES AS X-RAY ABSORPTION SPECTROSCOPY (XAS), X-RAY MAGNETIC CIRCULAR DICHROISM (XMCD), RESONANT X-RAY SCATTERING (RXS), NEUTRON POLARIZED BEAMS, MUON SPIN RELAXATION, AND THEIR APPLICATION TO THE SIMULTANEOUS STRUCTURAL, ELECTRONIC AND MAGNETIC CHARACTERIZATION OF MATERIALS IS ONE OF THE KEYSTONES OF THE PRESENT COORDINATED PROJECT, IN THE PRESENT PROJECT, SPECIAL ATTENTION WILL BE FOCUSSED TO THE DEPENDENCE OF THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND THE NANOCRYSTALLINE NATURE OF NEW NANOESTRUCTURED AND NANOPARTICLE MATERIALS IN WHICH THE USE OF THESE TECHNIQUES IS OF SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE, WE PLAN THE STUDY OF DIFFERENT FUNCTIONAL AND NANOSTRUCTURED MAGNETIC MATERIALS IN WHICH THE SIZE REDUCTION IMPLIES A DRASTIC CHANGE OF THE MAGNETIC PROPERTIES, THE EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE OF THE SCIENTISTS COMING FROM THE DIFFERENT PARTICIPATING GROUPS ALLOW US TO ADDRESS THE STUDY OF A WIDE CLASS OF MATERIALS SHOWING BOTH BASIC AND APPLIED INTEREST, DESPITE THE BROAD SPECTRA OF MATERIALS UNDER INVESTIGATION, TWO COMMON ASPECTS WILL CENTER OUR MAIN RESEARCH ACTIVITY: THE STUDY OF THE DISORDER INTO THE MAGNETIC INTERACTIONS AND MAGNETOVOLUMIC AND SHAPE MEMORY EFFECTS, MOREOVER, THE PROJECT ALSO INTENDS A MORE TECHNOLOGICAL OUTPUT BY CONSIDERING THE POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS OF THIN FILMS FOR SPINTRONIC AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GIANT MAGNETO-IMPEDANCE DEVICES, FINALLY, THE SCIENTIFIC PERSONNEL FROM THE FOUR GROUPS INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT WILL COLLABORATE INTO THE DESIGN OF AN X-RAY CIRCULAR MAGNETIC DICHROISM EXPERIMENTAL SET-UP AT THE X-RAY ABSORPTION SPECTROSCOPY XAS BEAMLINE OF THE SPANISH SYNCHROTRON RADIATION FACILITY ALBA, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATION WITH OTHER RESEARCH GROUPS AND EPOS IS ALSO PLANNED IN ORDER TO GET THE OPTIMIZATION OF THE OBTAINED RESULTS AS WELL AS THEIR IMPLEMENTATION AS NEW EXPERIMENTAL CHARACTERIZATION TOOLS, COMPUTATIONAL METHODS, AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICES rare-earth transition-metal intermetalli\strongly correlated systems\nanoparticles\nanostructurated materials\spin glasses\magnetic clusters\neutron scattering\muon spin relaxation\synchrotron radiation\high pressure. ver más
