Descripción del proyecto
Before the implementation of the new European Regulation1 (3 October 2002) because the break out of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) most animal wastes were gathered by specialised companies for transforming them into other derivatives (i.e. feeding flour of animal origin) that have caused multiple problems of infections in all Europe known in the 90s as Mad Cow Disease. Nowadays, those waste disposals should be controlled as it is banned by the European Decision were indicated that all mammalian protein sources are prohibited from use in animal feeds2. Therefore, the sectors affected (tanneries and slaughterhouses) have had to control the disposal of their animal wastes. Indeed, since 3 October 2002 when entered into force the European Regulation (EC 1774/2002), tanneries and slaughterhouses have had to assume extra costs for the disposal of their animal wastes.
