Descripción del proyecto
The field of Molecular Ecology is currently developing rapidly as new genomics tools such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) are becoming cheaper and applicable to the study of non-model organisms, Many of the researchers at Estación Biológica de Doñana (EBD) already incorporate genomics in their research through collaborations with researchers at other institutions, However, we need to strengthen this line of work in order to be able to lead research projects in the forefront of science, without a continuous dependence from other institutions for even the most simple analyses, Sequencing is best done in large service facilities, Sequencing is done from genomic libraries, For the research groups at EBD these libraries will often be enriched for a targeted subset of the genome and contain a pool of many different individuals, using nonstandard procedures that are best implemented in-house, The equipment requested here is for the preparation of libraries from DNA and cDNA (synthesized from RNA) for next generation sequencing, which would then be done at an external facility, This equipment is necessary for our center to consolidate our incorporation into the genomics revolution,
