Descripción del proyecto
THE MAIN AIM OF THIS PROJECT IS TO PREPARE A PRELIMINARY DESIGN REVIEW AND A LABORATORY PROTOTYPE OF THE DETECTOR UNIT ELECTRONIC (DUE) FOR THE MID INFRARED CAMERA OF THE JEM-EUSO MISSION. THE SELECTED DETECTOR IS AN UNCOOLED 640X480 MICROBOLOMETER ARRAY FROM ULIS COMPANY ( THE UL 04 17 1). WE WILL FINISH THE DUE PROTOTYPE WE BEGAN TU DESIGN AT THE IAC IN 2009, TO TEST THAT THE DETECTOR CHARACTERISTICS QUALIFY THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CAMARA, AND TO USE IT AS A BREADBOARD TO TEST DIFFERENT INSTRUMENT CONFIGURATIONS IN THE LABORATORY. NOTICE ALSO THAT THIS DEVELOPMENT CAN BE USED NOT ONLY IN JEM-EUSSO BUT IN FUTURE MISSIONS TO SOLAR SYSTEM OBJECTS. THE STUDY OF THE THERMAL PROPERTIES OF PLANETARY SURFACE AND/OR ATMOSPHERES IS AN IMPORTANT DRIVER OF MOST OF THE FUTURE PLANETARY MISSIONS ALREADY SUGGESTED. IN PARTICUAR WE ARE INVOLVED IN TWO MISSION PRESENTED TO THE RECENT ESA COSMIC-VISION CALLS, MARCO POLO-R AND TROJAN ODDYSEY, AND ONE OF OUR COIS, H. CAMPINS (UCF, USA), IS MEMBER OF THE SCIENCE TEAM OF THE NASA MISSION OSIRIS-REX SELECTED AS PART OF THE NEW FRONTIERS PROGRAM. ETECTOR; MICROBOLOMETRO\DEMOSTRADOR\PDR\ELECTRONICA\TERMICO\INFRARROJO
