Amsterdam, Friday September 28, 2007. Fifteen hundred young scientists, creative minds, students and other young trend setters from Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands are having a great time at Discovery 07, a good party including food for thought. From 8 pm to 3 am they enjoy a lot of new music, fascinating science and art, the latest technologies and ideas of visionary members of their own generation. Talking, drinking and dancing; having sparkling cocktails and ditto conversations. Enjoying Pechakucha, performing artists, top DJ's and VJ's, a crazy quiz show in which visitors compete against 'maths babes', live scientific experiments – you can, for example, have your brain scanned in response to various stimuli and much more. And if you want to share your thoughts or hear some more about something, a lot of nice Very Disco scientists, artists and likeminded young people will be around, having conversations about almost anything you may possibly think of. Discovery 07 is a nighttime event, organised by young scientists and likeminded others. It is organised to improve the image of scientists by showing young, contagiously enthusiast scientists to the public, and to prove that cool science is just as much Friday night fun as is cool art, new music and nice people. Discovery 07 is a follow-up to the sold out but not professional and scientific enough Discovery 06, which was sponsored by the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Platform Bèta Techniek, Shell, IBM, Dell a.o. This year, sponsor talks are in progress; for the content and promotion of the event Very Disco cooperates with the Royal Academy, Platform Bèta Techniek, PhD Network Netherlands, GeNeYouS, various universities, networks, and industry. Discovery 07 has 1500 visitors, but will generate broad public attention through national tv, newspapers and other media, just as Discovery 06 did.
