Descripción del proyecto
Vaginitis is a frequently occurring medical disorder in women associated with substantial morbidity and formerly
undetected complications. It is one of the most common problems in clinical medicine, and it is the reason cited
most often for visits to obstetricians and gynaecologists. Today, there is no point-of-care diagnostic tool that can
diagnose all six possible causes to vaginitis correctly, rapidly and in a comprehensive manner. It is estimated to
be misdiagnosed in around 50% of first non-expert physicians' clinic visits and about 30% of women with vaginal
complaints remain undiagnosed despite extensive testing. GynTools has developed a unique (patent pending)
vaginal discharge collection tool, composed by two products: (1) VagX I™ a rapid point of care diagnostic device
for Gynaecology clinics and (2) VagX II™, a Vaginitis self-test kit for home use.
VagX is the first diagnostic system that can diagnose all six Vaginitis conditions; does not require special skills or
training and it is faster and cheaper from any current alternative. VagX system provides a comprehensive point of
care vaginitis diagnostic tool for gynaecologists and primary caregivers that are not experts in vulvovaginal
disorders. Leveraging AI and Deep Machine Learning, VagX allows any caregiver to correctly diagnose all six
vaginitis conditions, within minutes. GynTools seeks funding to conduct a feasibility study to prove technical and
commercial viability, conducting an analytical exercise to position the product. The objective is to test the
economic viability of the device among a larger pool of potential clients (user-acceptance), and to assess if the
chosen commercialisation approach will be conducive of the projected growth on the European level.
