DEPOSITOS MINERALES ESTRATEGICOS TARDIVARISCOS: IMPRONTA ESTRUCTURAL Y GEOFISICA
IN THE VARISCAN BELT, SHORTENING RELATED TO PLATE CONVERGENCE PRODUCED CRUSTAL THICKENING WHICH EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN A GRAVITATIONAL FLOW AND TECTONIC DENUDATION OF A HOT AND WEAKENED OROGENIC CRUST, HOW CONVERGENCE AND COLLAPSE... IN THE VARISCAN BELT, SHORTENING RELATED TO PLATE CONVERGENCE PRODUCED CRUSTAL THICKENING WHICH EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN A GRAVITATIONAL FLOW AND TECTONIC DENUDATION OF A HOT AND WEAKENED OROGENIC CRUST, HOW CONVERGENCE AND COLLAPSE PROCESSES WERE INTERNALLY LINKED AND DISTRIBUTED, AND HOW THEY WERE COMBINED WITH TEARING ALONG HUGE STRIKE-SLIP SHEAR STRUCTURES, AND OROCLINAL BENDING, ARE IMPORTANT ISSUES TO BE CONSTRAINED IN THIS PROJECT, WHICH REQUIRES MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES AT DIFFERENT SCALES, NEW TECHNOLOGIES RELY ON THE USE OF A LARGE NUMBER OF RARE ELEMENTS, INCREASING THE INTEREST IN THE EXPLORATION OF KEY ORE DEPOSITS, THE CENTRAL IBERIAN ZONE, IN IBERIA, CONTAINS DIVERSE ORE AND RARE MINERALS DEPOSITS RELATED TO THE LATE VARISCAN DEFORMATION STAGES, ITS TECTONIC SETTING IS CONNECTED TO THERMAL DOMES DEVELOPED DURING THE EXTENSIONAL GRAVITATIONAL COLLAPSE OF THE THICKENED CRUST RESULTING FROM THE VARISCAN COMPRESSION, DUE TO THE GROWING DEMAND FOR THESE RARE METALS, THESE PLUTONS ARE CATCHING THE INTEREST OF GEOSCIENTISTS AND THE MINING INDUSTRY, TO EFFICIENTLY MINE THEM, IT IS ESSENTIAL TO UNDERSTAND THEIR DISTRIBUTION IN SPACE AND TIME, WHICH REQUIRES RECOGNITION OF THE BROAD CRUSTAL-SCALE STRUCTURE AND MINERALIZING SYSTEMS THAT LED TO THEIR DEVELOPMENT, I,E,, LOCAL DYNAMICS AND LINKS BETWEEN THESE SYSTEMS AND THE BROADER REGIONAL GEOLOGICAL CONTEXT, THEREFORE, IT IS NECESSARY TO GENERATE COMPLETE 3D IMAGES OF THE SUBSOIL WITH ENOUGH RESOLUTION,THERMAL DOMES, OFTEN CORED BY OUTCROPPING GRANITES AND MIGMATITES, ARE RANDOMLY ASSOCIATED WITH METAL ORES, THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GEOMETRY OF THESE GRANITIC BODIES IN RELATION WITH THE HOST ROCK, MUST HELP US TO UNRAVEL THEIR MODES OF EMPLACEMENT AND INTERNAL DYNAMICS, GRANITIC PLUTONS’ OUTCROPS PROVIDE ONLY AN ESTIMATION OF ITS SUB-HORIZONTAL LATERAL EXTENSION BUT ADD LITTLE CONSTRAINTS ABOUT THEIR DEPTH EXTENT, MOREOVER, THE INFLUENCE OF REGIONAL TECTONICS DURING THE GRANITIC EMPLACEMENT IS KEY TO UNDERSTAND THEIR DEEP GEOMETRY, WHICH MAY NOT BE OBSERVED OR, AT BEST, JUST INFERRED FROM THE SURFACE OUTCROPS, DIRECT OBSERVATIONS ON EXPOSED ROCKS AND STRUCTURES PROVIDE INDICATIONS THAT CANNOT BE CONFIDENTLY EXTENDED TO DEPTH, TO COME UP WITH AN ACCURATE IMAGE OF THE GRANITOIDS GEOMETRY AND EXTENSION, INDIRECT METHODS, I,E, GEOPHYSICS, ARE REQUIRED, FURTHERMORE, THE EXISTENCE OF CONDUCTIVE, MAGNETIC, OR DENSE MINERALIZATIONS WILL FURTHER CONSTRAINT THE GEOPHYSICAL SIGNATURE OF THESE LITHOLOGIES AND ITS ECONOMIC POTENTIAL, IN THIS PROJECT, WE WILL COMBINE REGIONAL GEOLOGY AND DIVERSE GEOPHYSICAL TECHNIQUES TO INVESTIGATE THE 3D GEOMETRY OF THE SUBSURFACE, PREFERENTIALLY IN THERMAL DOMES, COMPLEMENTARY GEOPHYSICAL TECHNIQUES WILL BE APPLIED TO MAP IN-DEPTH DIFFERENT PHYSICAL PROPERTIES PROVIDING STRONG CONSTRAINTS FOR A SECURE INTERPRETATION, GEOFISICA\RUIDO SISMICO\ANISOTROPIA\EXPLORACION\OROGENO VARISCO\TECTONICA\AU-SN-W-REE\DOMOS TERMICOS\MAGNETISMO\GRAVIMETRIA ver más
