Agurotech B.V. is an Amsterdam based deep-tech start-up that focuses on smart farming solutions for the global agriculture industry.
The company was founded in November 2020 as a spin-off from the Dutch institute of subatomic physics and is founded, operated and owned by 2 females with majority share (85%) of the company.
Agurotech B.V. develops IoT-based hardware (sensors) and AI-powered software solutions to perform measurements in farmers' fields and uses advanced algorithms to translate these measurements into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations. These solutions help farmers to increase their yield, while using their resources more effectively. It has been shown that over 20% of yield can be increased and resources can be reduced anywhere between 30-80%. This is important because the farming industry has a significant role in today's societal sustainability challenges, such as carbon emissions, water scarcity and soil health. It is recognized that precision farming technology will play a key role in addressing these challenges.
Given that Agurotech is a deep-tech start-up, until now, significant focus has been on R&D and product development. The company has just started commercialization and is increasing the customer base and preparing for scale up. Agurotech identified target segments who benefit most from Agurotech’s products and services, these include: flower bulbs, potatoes, onions, carrots and sugar beets. Agurotech’s strategy is to offer products and services in selected niche segments before expanding to other segments. The goal of the project that is presented in this proposal is to start penetrating the flower bulbs and onions segment in order to 1. Validate the potential of these segments 2. Realize a better product-market fit and 3. Start realizing sales in these segments. If granted: this project will be used to realize a controlled and fact-driven scale up of sales of Agurotech’s products and services in selected segments.
