THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH PROJECT IS TO CONTINUE THE PARTICIPATION OF IFIC IN THE GENERAL PURPOSE EXPERIMENT ATLAS OF LHC, IN PARTICULAR, IN THE COMMISSIONING, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SEMICONDUCTOR TRACKER DETECTOR (SCT) AND THE HADRON CALORIMETER (TICAL), WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS IN THE EXPLOITATION OF THE FULL ATLAS POTENTIAL FOR PHYSICS STUDIES AND DISCOVERIES, THE IFIC GROUPS PARTICIPATE IN ATLAS SINCE 1996 WITH SEVERAL CICYT PROJECTS IN COORDINATION WITH THE CNM-IMB, WE HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ATLAS SCT SINCE THE R&D, WITH THE SELECTION OF TECHNOLOGY AND THE DEFINITION SENSORS, ALSO WE HAVE PARTICIPATED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FRONT-END ELECTRONICS, TO THE CONSTRUCTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PROTOTYPES AND TO THE ASSEMBLY AND FULL QUALITY TEST OF 281 END-CAP MODULES AT IFIC, CNM-IMB TEAM HAS FABRICATED AND PROVIDED FAN-INS FOR THE ALL END-CAP MODULES, DURING THE LAST TWO YEARS WE HAVE CONCENTRATED OUR ACTIVITIES ON THE ASSEMBLY AND TEST THE SCT AS A WHOLE AT CERN, ITS INTEGRATION WITH THE TRT DETECTOR ON SURFACE, ITS INSTALLATION AT THE PIT AND THE DETECTOR COMMISSIONING, WITH THE GOAL OF HAVING THE SYSTEM READY FOR THE FIRST COLLISIONS, IN PARALLEL WE ARE DEVELOPING ALIGNMENT ALGORITHMS FOR THE TRACKING DETECTOR, THE SUCCESS OF THE TRACKING RECONSTRUCTION, THEREFORE OF THE STUDIES AND DISCOVERY OF ATLAS, WILL DEPEND ON THE GOOD OPERATION AND CALIBRATION OF THE ID, THE ALIGNMENT STUDIES BEGAN WITH THE COMBINED TEST BEAM IN 2004, FURTHER STUDIES HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT WITH COMIC DATA PROBING THAT COSMIC DATA WILL COMPLEMENT THE INTERACTION DATA TO SOLVE WEAK ALIGNMENT MODES, THE GOAL IS TO KNOW THE POSITION OF THE HITS IN THE TRANSVERSE PLANE AT THE LEVEL OF 20M, COMBINING SURVEY DATA, FROM THE HARDWARE ALIGNMENT SYSTEMS AND FROM COSMIC AND INTERACTION DATA,LHC HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO EXPLORE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE TEV ENERGY SCALE, TO BE ABLE TO EXPLOIT ALL ITS POTENTIAL A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF THE STANDARD PROCESSES WILL BE NEEDED IN ITS FIRST PHASE, A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROTON-PROTON STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF PROTON-PROTON AT THIS ENERGY WILL OPEN A NEW DOMAIN TO INVESTIGATE THE MECHANISM OF ELECTRO-WEEK SYMMETRY BREAKING, DETAILED TEST OF QCD, DETERMINATION OF THE TOP QUAK PROPERTIES AND EW SECTOR OF THE STANDARD MODEL, POSSIBLY APPEARANCE OF SUPERSYMMETRY AND EVEN MANIFESTATIONS OF EXTRA DIMENSIONS, IN PARTICULAR, THE IFIC GROUP IS PARTICIPATING AND HAS INTERESTS IN STANDARD TOP PHYSIC, EXOTIC FINAL STATES AND SEARCHES OF HIGGS BOSON AND SUPERSYMMETRY, FURTHERMORE, THE GROUP IS DEVELOPING AN INFRASTRUCTURE TO ENABLE A PROPER COORDINATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE COMPUTING RESOURCES AMOUNT THE RESEARCH LINES, THE LUMINOSITY OF THE LHC WILL INCREASE OVER THE FIRST SEVERAL YEARS OF OPERATION REACHING 1034 CM-2 S -1 AND, VERY LIKELY, REQUIRING DETECTOR UPGRADES IN CRITICAL AREAS, OVER THE LAST YEARS AN UPGRADE OF THE LHC, THE SUPERLHC, TOWARDS HIGHER LUMINOSITIES HAS BEEN DISCUSSED AS AN EXTENSION OF THE LHC PHYSICS PROGRAMME, SUCH AN UPGRADE WILL REQUIRE CHALLENGING IMPROVEMENTS IN THE DETECTORS, THE PLANNING HAS STARTED FOR AN UPGRADE TO BE READY FOR DATA TAKING IN THE 2016 TIME SCALE, OUR MAIN EFFORTS WILL FOCUS ON THE R&D NEEDED TO DEVELOP A TRACKING SYSTEM CAPABLE OF DEALING WITH AN INSTANTANEOUS LUMINOSITY OF 1035 CM-2 S-1 AND BETWEEN 5 AND 10 YEARS OF FURTHER OPERATION, IN OTHER TO HAVE THE ¿INNER TRACKER TDR¿ FOR 2011, LHC\ATLAS\SILICIO\ALINEAMINTO\TRAZAS\TOP\MASA\HIGGS\GLUON\LEPTON
